A while back I was contacted by Adam from ACMc Studio to see if I wanted to try out some blotting paper. I feel like there aren’t many options out there when it comes to blotting paper, so having another option is always a good thing. I’ve been using the blotters he sent over for the past few months and here’s what I have to say.
Actually, first let’s take a look at the store description.
– “ACMc Inky Blotter Paper” branded blotter paper is for Calligraphers and other users of Dip Pens, Fountain Pens, and Brush with ink, sized at A6 (4.1″x5.8″) to carry in a notebooks or have on hand on your writing surface. Sheets can be cut down to perfectly fit your Ink Blotter Rocker.
– Specifications: 70 Cover (189 gsm) 12pt • The unique texture and thick construction is impressively durable, providing fast absorbency and excellent retention with no mess. • Fully Recyclable. Acid Free, Chlorine Free, Lignin Free, pH Neutral. 87 Brightness.
Each piece of blotter paper has the studio logo and some text pressed into it, which makes for a very nice appearance, especially compared to a blank piece of paper. I was wondering if the letter-pressed areas would affect ink absorption, but ink was soaked up in those areas the same as the rest of the sheet. Overall, they work just like blotting paper should.
One thing that was a nice and unexpected surprise is the size. I just started a new Midori 5-Year Diary at the beginning of the year and the A6 size of these blotters makes them the perfect companion for it. The blotter fits perfectly inside of the diary without any cutting, serving as both a bookmark and blotter, so I can just close the book after I’m done writing and not have to worry about getting ink on the facing page.
At the end of the day this is just a blotter that works. If you’re looking for some blotting paper that is a little smaller, thicker, and smoother than the Herbin Blotting Paper, this would be a good option. Thanks again to Adam for sending over a sample of his ACMc Inky Blotter Paper for me to try out.
