Paper Sample Packs – A Year End Summary and New Announcements!

John BosleyMiscellaneous 2 Comments

This past year things got really serious in the paper sample pack department. It seems that I’m not the only person out there who thought that being able to try paper samples without purchasing an entire notebook would be a good idea! Ironically, since I’ve started offering these sample packs I have purchased hundreds of different notebooks. On the plus side (for me, at least), I get to try them all!

Just this year alone, people from many different places around the world have purchased hundreds of sample packs. Here are the countries I’ve shipped paper to this year:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Spain
  • Ireland
  • China
  • Great Britain
  • Switzerland
  • Netherlands
  • Germany
  • France
  • Saudi Arabia

Changes To The Big Sample Pack And Sample Quantities

Since I first created the paper sample packs, some samples have included 3 sheets of paper while others have included 2 sheets. This was mainly due to some paper costing more or being more difficult to obtain than others. While this is still the case, it’s time for a slight change. All paper samples that previously consisted of 3 sheets will now consist of 2 sheets, making for more consistency in the pack. Samples that previously had 2 sheets will remain unchanged.

While removing sheets means I am providing less paper per pack, I am happy to announce that I will be including a few new papers samples in the Big Fountain Pen Paper Sample Pack! In addition to the 17 great papers that are already included in the sample pack, it will also now include samples of Kokuyo Campus, Profolio Oasis and Profolio Oasis Light. While previously a little tough to find, these notebooks can now be found in many online and physical shops, so I figure more and more people will be able to purchase them if they like them. That brings the total number of samples in that one pack to 20!

Due to the nature of these sample packs, I have many packets pre-built and ready to ship. This means I still have a number of sample packs that include 3-sheet samples. Instead of going through and removing one sheet from each sample, I am going to sell off what I have in stock before starting to create 2-sheet packs. This means that some lucky people will receive the new packs with 20 samples, but will also receive 3 sheets of some or all of the original 17 sample papers! Of course, the quantities are limited and I expect they will be gone within a week or two, so be sure to grab one right away if you want a little extra value. Unfortunately, there will be no way to know if you’re getting extra paper when you place your order, but hopefully you get a nice surprise when it shows up!

Paper Pack Additions

I also want to announce that three new papers will be added as options to the Custom Paper Sample Pack. You can now choose Cosmo Air Light 92gsm, Profolio Oasis Light and Kokuyo KB Business Paper. I am also removing the Kokuyo Century Edition, as I am out and replacement notebooks are simply too expensive and hard to find to justify including. I am also toying with creating one or two new specialty sample packs and adding a few more paper options to the Custom Sample Pack, but for now only the above changes will take place immediately.

A Quick Teaser

I do have something special and limited planned for InCoWriMo (International Correspondence Writing Month), which is coming up in February. If you’d like to be the first to know about it, please make sure you’re signed up for my mailing list to get notified before non-subscribers. Otherwise, you’ll hear about it here shortly after my subscribers do.

Thanks for making 2020 a great year for paper, despite everything else that happened. Here’s hoping 2021 has even better things in store for all of us. Happy writing!

  1. your paper samples have given me so much joy, to be able to test out a paper you have heard so much about is just the greatest! I would never have bought the G. Lalo Paper just by reading about it, but testing it out changed my mind and now I use it most of the times 🙂 thanks from Switzerland!! Andrea
